In martial arts, “Kata”, or form, is achieved through rigorously ordered practice. David Beckstoffer, a black belt in karate and Kata’s creator, understands the importance of mastering form. Kata, the brand, was born when Beckstoffer Vineyards purchased 13 acres of Bourn vineyard, one of Napa Valley’s most historically significant vineyards. Initially planted towards the end of the 19th Century by William Bowers Bourn, the vineyard today is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Petite Sirah. Its winemaker, and Bordeaux native, Benoit Touquette, delivers a subtle, nuanced wine. After its highly-praised inaugural release, the 2011, E-Cep is proud to offer 2012 vintage bonds from this rising star.

Production in 2012 is expected to be 280 cases.
