After moving to Napa with his family in 1975, Andy Beckstoffer built a unique portfolio of extraordinary historical vineyards. Andy’s son, David decided to create his first wine, Kata when Beckstoffer Vineyards purchased 12 acres of Bourn vineyard (then part of Hayne Vineyard), one of Napa Valley’s most historically significant vineyards. Initially planted towards the end of the 19th Century by William Bowers Bourn, the vineyard today is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Petite Sirah. Its winemaker, and Bordeaux native, Benoit Touquette, delivers a subtle, nuanced wine. After tasting Kata’s inaugural 2011 vintage Antonio Galloni described it as “one of the most exciting new projects in the Napa Valley”.
