Proprietor Hi Sang Lee has resurrected this historic Rutherford estate where a winery was first constructed in 1883 by H.W. Helms. The cult of perfection is palpable when visiting this magnificent winery. Dana Estates produces three single-vineyard Cabernets from sites with dramatically different soils and microclimates, each farmed organically at very low yields using the latest precision water monitoring techniques, to produce wines distinctly expressive of terroir. In the cellar, the wines are allowed to develop in the most tranquil of conditions, to the sound of classical music, with barrels un-stacked to limit movement. Only about 25% of grapes make it into the final blend, affording production of just 200-300 cases per vineyard. The wait list for this brand is excruciatingly long. For the first time, Dana Estates is offering a "terroir pack" bond comprising one bottle from each of its three vineyards; Helms, Hershey and Lotus.
